The Department of Russian Studies at the Faculty of Arts trains qualified specialists in both teaching and non-teaching programs in Russian linguistics, literature, and culture.


It offers accredited full-time and part-time study programs including:


Russian Language and Culture in Professional Communication, which offers Bachelor's (Bc.), Master's (Mgr.), and Doctoral (PhD.) degrees.


Teaching Academic Subjects - Russian language combined with another subject with Bachelor's (Bc.) and Master's (Mgr.) degrees available.


• After completing five years of study and earning a Master's degree, students have the option to continue with postgraduate studies and earn a PhDr. for a Doctor of Philosophy or a PaedDr. for a Doctor of Pedagogy.


• The department also offers further study for teachers in Russian language and literature.


The Department of Russian Studies conducts scientific research in collaboration with the Cultural and Educational Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport of the Slovak Republic (Vedecká grantová agentúra MŠVVaŠ SR KEGA) and the Slovak Academy of Sciences (Slovenská akadémia vied) VEGA. Research results are presented as monographs and in national and international journals, and the department's staff have published encyclopedias and dictionaries, as well as produced study materials for students. Notable completed projects include monographs such as "Exogenesis and Endogenesis of Literary Russian," "Evangel Hanigoviensis," and lexicographic works like the "Slovak-Russian Dictionary I and II" and "Slovak-Russian Law and Economic Dictionary." The department also contributes to the "Russian-Slovak Cultural Contacts" collection of papers. In addition to research, the department participates in Children's University and University of the Third Age projects and organizes student conferences and events, including an "Evening of Russian Films" and an "Evening of Russian Theatre."
